pet urine odor

whats the best way to get pet/urine odor out of my carpets?

my APBT is now 8 months old and possibly, maybe finally understanding house training. i use sprays and powders on accidents and have steam cleaned my carpets. the steam cleaner worked great as long as the room didnt get hot. for example, when the AC is on my house smells wonderful. however, i went out of town over the weekend and everything was shut off and closed up- terrible odor!! please help. i dont think she would go in the house any more if i can get rid of the smell.

i have a small shampoo vac. what i find that works (we had 13 dogs dirtying the carpet) get a bottle of arm & hammer detergent and mix it with water. the smell comes right out of the carpet. if you don’t have the vac you can take the mix in a bottle or sprayer and work it in. then let it sit for a few minutes before dabbing dry.
