One of the first things people look at when they enter your home is the flooring. If it does not look good they may get a poor perception of you. Choosing which type of flooring to put in your house demands your careful consideration. Since your floor is constantly in use you should choose something that fits the level of traffic. If you would like an expensive fix you may try hardwood flooring. Some other options are carpet, tile and laminate flooring.
1) Hardwood Flooring- If you want to go all out and have a beautiful floor then this is the option for you. This is the most expensive type of flooring that we will be discussing. On a positive note it is also the most desire able type of flooring. A beautiful hardwood floor will add value to your home. Hardwood floors last forever. When and if it starts looking a little dull, just sand it and refinish it and it will look amazing again. Its very durable which is probably why its so expensive. Hardwood flooring is easy to clean and maintain. If you have a spill you simply wipe it up and then wipe it again with a clean rag to get any sticky residue that may be left. There are many choices when choosing hardwood flooring. You can choose what type of wood and then there are many colors and shades to choose from. This flooring will put a hole in your wallet but its worth it in the long run.
2) Install Carpet- Having carpet installed can be bothersome. It gets dirty very easy and takes real effort to clean and maintain. Carpet holds in dirt and seems to lock it in. If you don’t regularly vacuum your carpet will get pretty dirty. If you do decide to go with carpeting you may want to choose a darker color to help hide stains on the carpet. Carpets are nice to your feet. They provide padding and protect your feet from hard cold floors. If you do decide to carpet your house you will like that you have many options and colors to choose from. You may want to go with just one solid color throughout your house or you may want to choose different colors for different rooms.
3) Install Laminate- If your looking for flooring that is easy on your wallet then this is for you. You will not have to spend a lot of money on it and it will still look amazing. If your on a low income budget then this is perfect for you. Laminate flooring is very durable and you get your money’s worth. The amount of choices you have when it comes to design and color is almost endless. The great thing about laminate flooring is that if you decide you don’t like it any more in a year or two you can always redo it.
4) Install Tile- Tile is popular in small area’s. It is a wise choice to install tile in bathrooms and kitchens because these places are commonly wet. Tile will not warp or ruin with water making it a great choice. Tile is really an all around good choice. You can have in your entry way and even in your bedroom’s. Its easy to clean and holds up well against normal wear and tear. Tiles come in many different patterns and colors. You can also mix different textures and styles to come up with something completely unique.
Now that you know some of your options go do more research. Look at home improvement stores and find out what styles and types of flooring you like best. Start pricing materials if you are going to do it yourself.
